Dear Jeyamohan sir,
I made up my mind to write you someday for quiet sometime, didnt want to postpone that anymore.
I find out your writing extemely informative in science fiction short stories, and am loving your essays, its really the best more then your stories.Apart from the usual qualities that writers have such as going in depth, speaking from roots, being informative, honesty, ideals etc i find your uncompromisal stand on truth, genuiness the most unique and courageous.

Give us more truths,i respect your hardcore ideal approach to literature and unornamented commercial less honesty.

Something is better
than nothing என்ற அளவில்.

Dear Mr. Jeyamohan,

Hope this email finds you in great health. Let me first state that I’ve great respect for your straightforwardness, expertise on literature and your magnanimity. This is my first correspondence to you and I wish this email had been on a more amicable/agreeable subject.

I would like to register my strong objection about your comment/judgement on Cho. You’ve almost dismissed his views on Anna Hazare in a single stroke – as though he were a BJP worker and having a mind-set of an average political worker. Sure, you may not like Cho’s stance on Anna Hazare’s method – there is nothing wrong with People differing with Anna Hazare’s method. Among the media and journals, Cho and Thuglak have been the single most voice against nepotism, corruption and injustice against democracy. He was one of very few to support JP movement( even you have mentioned in one of your blogs). He played an active role against Jayalaita’s corrupt rule in 1996 ( albeit in a political level and not on a legal side); Karunanidhi’s support/alleged proximity to Veerappan in 2001; He was the first to write about Spectrum scandal in Tamilnadu ( even from 2008; 2009) and he vehemently opposed Yedurappa’s continuing in power in Karnataka ( so many cartoons; in Q&A he has specified this and he had even spoken about this to BJP leadership); however he’s not an anarchist (I’m not saying Anna is an anarchist) ; he is a staunch supporter of democracy – and democracy demands some compromises- he strongly believes BJP is best alternative for Congress ( history proves so – compared to current govt last NDA rule was much better) and ADMK for DMK.

He does not believe in Anna Hazare because Anna himself has given room for that – Anna writes letter to Sonia Gandhi ( We all know how she supported Mr. Quattrochi; Law minister asked British govt to defreeze money on Sonia Gandhi’s advice; Why Sonia Gandhi isn’t reveling black money account holder’s list even after Supreme court’s repeated condemnation?); Sonia replies to Anna that she and he share the same stance against corruption; one day Anna praises Narendra Modi on clean governance ( which I believe is true; we may differ on his handling of riots; but there is no question he runs the cleanest govt in India) ; next day he criticizes Modi – and what proof does he(Anna) offer – that somebody else told him so – Surely Mahatma Gandhi would never have taken such public comments; – These all factors made Cho to believe that Anna’s looking for more publicity ; and Cho believes that an all-powerful-committee may be more harmful than doing any good -( that’s why he does not support laws that deny members with criminal cases in contesting elections – because govt may file a case against any member falsely and deny their membership chance); Cho believes a good government will be able to uphold judiciary and if People punish corrupt by voting them out – that itself will deter and demolish corruption in long term (he believes voting right parties will bring that change); Anna may not believe in Government ; but Judiciary is still doing a great job ( He has written a # of times if courts take a strong stand against giving vaidhas, delays can be reduced to a great extent) and a good government will be able to complement good judiciary – and these are the reasons why Cho does not believe in Anna’s method. In this context; you can see Cho’s support on Jayalaita’s tough action against government employee’s strike back in 2002-2003. Cho believes a correct political change through elections and zero tolerance against corrupt is the best and long-term solution and these sort of committees are more of a quick-fix.

Now, All I am saying is you have full right to say that Cho is wrong in his assessment and that he should have supported Anna for larger good; and he’s being too skeptic; I don’t have issues even if you say Cho has a typical middle class defensive mindset; but to insinuate his stand (on Anna) with some political motives is wrong; for that matter Cho didnt even support Baba Ramdev’s fasting on bringing black money ; had he been having a simple/silly motive as that of an average BJP worker, he would have supported Ramdev and I don’t think BJP opposes Anna’s movement (for that even left has not been supportive of Anna from beginning and neither opposed it).

Finally if you argue that Anna has brought more change though protests and made many ministers resign, i can counter-argue Cho has brought many changes in national and state politics through his magazine and his off-the-media political-alliance works ( right from 1970s).

I’m eagerly looking forward to your reply. I’m not sure I am able to communicate everything through this email – may be I will be more effective in my writing with more closely following your blogs :) . Your are my Cho Ramaswamy among writers and keep your good work.
