தனித்திருப்பது அத்தனை கடினமா என்ன?
மன்னிப்பது அத்தனை பாரமா என்ன?
எளிமை அத்தனை சங்கடமானதா?
எல்லோருக்கும் என்ற சொல் ஒரு கூரிய வாளா?

தெரியவில்லை.
நீ அறிந்திருக்கலாம்
முதல்முறை மேரியின் மடியில்.
இன்னொருமுறை மக்தலேனாவின் கண்ணீரில்.
மீண்டுமொருமுறை சிலுவையில்.
கடைசியாக, உயிர்த்தெழுகையில்

நீ சொன்ன சொற்களில் அவை இல்லை
நீ உருவாக்கிய சீடர்களில் அவை இல்லை
உன்னை வழிபடும் பாடல்களில்
உனக்காக எழும் வாள்முனைகளில்
உன் ஆலய கோபுரங்களில்
அவை கண்டிப்பாக இல்லை

ஆனால்
சொல்லின்மையில்
மொழியின்மையில்
தனிமையில்
இருளில் இருந்து எழுகின்றன உன் சொற்கள்.
தடாகம் தெளிகையில்
அடித்தளக் கூழாங்கற்கள்போல
பொன்னொளிகொண்டு.

சொல்,
வெம்மை கொள்ளும் ஒவ்வொன்றும்
ஒளிபெறுவது எப்படி?
கொதிப்பவை எல்லாம்
உருகி வடிவழிவது ஏன்?

இந்த தனிமையில்
மௌனமாக
உன்னை உணர்கிறேன்.

இங்கேயே இரு
இன்றிரவு முழுக்க

The Son of God

a thousand,
hundred thousand hands
convened with
fervent excitement,
to sing and
extol
Your glory.

But,
I see you
there
standing
with a sad little smile.

beyond that space
where
those thousand,
hundred thousand fingertips
swerve, and
search, and
seek, and
look for you,
and
await your

Second-coming.

When
the lonely, the hungry, & the awake one
realized
that
there is just
“him for himself”,
and
kept his hand
on his heart,
I’ve seen that hand
touch your feet,
and
I’ve seen you
gently caressing
his forehead.

Are you kidding us?

We are simple little beings.

While steering
a flood,
we stick on
to each other,
like Ants would,

and become one

big giant ball.

While in a group,
we scream
“I”, “I”,
and
when left alone,
we plead
to become
“we”, “we”.

without
shrill hatred,
we couldn’t
fathom.
the enormity
of
love.

without a
breakup,
we couldn’t
grasp.
the immensity
of
coming together.

Here
we are,
trying to
stick your
identity
upon ourselves.

Here is
your Throne.
Here are
your scapegoats.

A tight fence
made of thorn,
for you.
spun by us.
Using
your own words.

Therefore,
you better be
our God.

But,
You say
you are not.
You say
you are just
a tiny little being
like us.
You say
that
you’ve also
cried, like us
lost hope, like us
went mad, like us
and
kept your hand
on your heart.
like us.

I couldn’t
understand you.

In this
cold lonely night,
where that candle’s
little flame,
lit for you,
flickers persistently,
where that tiny rhythm
of the choir,
sung for you,
pervades and fills
my dark little room,
I ask you this –

” You, the one
who got betrayed by us!
how could you think of being anything else
than being our God?”

My lonely one.

My hungry one.

My ever-awake one.

Only you
could understand us.

Cos,
you’ve also
cried like us
lost hope like us
went mad like us

And
kept your hand
on your heart,
and said
“I’m the son of God”.
